Stockton Institute of Gaming Management Survey Reveals Demographic, Ethnic Trends Among Frontline Casino Employees

Galloway Township, NJ Frontline casino industry employees job attitudes vary greatly according to certain ethnic and demographic characteristics, according to a survey of employees released by the Stockton Institute of Gaming Management at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey and in alliance with Spectrum Gaming Group.

 

Some findings of the survey will be released Wednesday morning at a special continental breakfast and networking session hosted by the Institute and Spectrum Gaming. The event takes place from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Stocktons Carnegie Library Center, corner of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. and Pacific Avenue in Atlantic City. There were several interesting findings, not the least of which is that casino employment is a gateway job opportunity for immigrants to contribute to the U.S. workforce, said Dr. Israel Posner, Executive Director of Corporate and Professional Services at Stockton. We are finding that immigrant groups are more likely to want their family members in gaming industry jobs than their American born co-workers.

 

The survey also revealed that younger frontline casino workers are less inclined to believe their jobs are affected by racial or ethnic differences in their workplace. Incrementally, the percentage who felt such differences affected their work grew among workers in their 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s.

 

The survey was completed by more than 500 frontline casino employees, with a margin of error of approximately five percent, according to Dr. Lewis Leitner, Executive Director of Management Training and Development at Stockton.
