By Esther Lawrence
In commemoration of Women's History Month, adjunct instructor Pamela Fields, along with a group of students from her GEN 2106 - Leaders and Leadership Research class, cultivated an in-person Women’s History Month networking event co-sponsored by the Stockton University School of Business.
The networking event, “Elevate and Celebrate, honored local women entrepreneurs in the Atlantic City region. It was both empowering and affirming and the ideal occasion to close out Women's History Month.
The event honored Cathy Burke (The Irish Pub), Lena Di (LenaDi Wellness), Kim Jackson (Kelsey and Kim’s Restaurant), Cynthia Jennings (Mary Kay), Lisa Johnson (Lisa Johnson Communications), Phyllis Lacca (Masterpiece Advertising), Rita Mack (McDonald’s Franchise) and Roxanne Passarella (Flagship Resort).
The event began with networking between invited guests from the community, Stockton staff, administrators, faculty and students.
The event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the women of this region who are making an impact and leaving their mark. Cheers to the honorees and to all future women entrepreneurs!"
The honorees shared inspiring stories with the audience, ranging from their struggles starting their own businesses to their triumphs and successes. They spoke about the importance of mentorship and how critical health and fitness are for women entrepreneurs. They also urged employers to know their employees and the role that each employee plays.
Lacca expressed the importance of having diverse employees, and all of the honorees encouraged the audience to remain determined and to focus on achieving their goals.
The event was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the women of this region who are making an impact and leaving their mark. Cheers to the honorees and to all future women entrepreneurs!
