Educational Opportunity Fund
The New Jersey Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) was created by law in 1968 to ensure meaningful access to higher education for those who come from backgrounds of economic and educational disadvantage.
EOF assists low-income New Jersey residents who are highly motivated and capable, but lack adequate preparation and/or the financial means for college. EOF contributes to the development of a college-educated public that reflects the diversity of New Jersey.
The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) program is a state-wide access and opportunity program for New Jersey residents. EOF students receive extensive academic and personal advising, tutorial, some financial assistance and other support services to ensure their success at Stockton. First-time, full-time EOF first-year students must attend a residential 5-week pre-college summer academy that is covered by the Office of the Secretary of Higher Education (OSHE) and Stockton University. This rigorous summer academy helps develop students academically, socially, and emotionally for success in college.
EOF seeks to maximize educational opportunities for EOF students by providing direct program services designed to promote persistence through degree completion. EOF supports innovative educational initiatives, supplemental instruction, support services, and leadership development activities to improve the student’s chance of academic success. In concert with other sources of student financial assistance, EOF attempts to make college more affordable for students.
