Flags for Forgotten Soldiers
Galloway, N.J. – The Stockton Office of Military and Veterans Service, in collaboration with the Knights of Columbus, will hold a memorial ceremony, “Flags for Forgotten Soldiers,” at 10 a.m. March 27 in front of the Campus Center to honor military men and women who have committed suicide. There will be 660 flags displayed, each representing a lost life. This event is free and open to the public.
Flags for Forgotten Soldiers is a program created to bring awareness to the public about suicide amongst service members and veterans. According to federal statistics, 22 veterans die daily by their own hand, which totals about 8,000 suicides a year.
