Marine Field Station
Due to COVID-19 government orders and workplace restrictions the Marine Field Station is closed to visitors and students. On-site staffing is limited as faculty and staff follow the work from home protocol. Questions regarding limited access permission can be sent to MFS@stockton.edu.
All instruction for the remainder of the Spring and the Summer academic terms will continue on line. Students registered for courses or research teams at the Marine Field Station for the summer of 2020 should contact their faculty with any questions.

The Marine Field Station is a facility of the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at Stockton University and a member laboratory of the University National Oceanographic Laboratory System (UNOLS). The Field Station is used as a teaching and research destination for numerous NAMS' academic programs, including foremost the marine science program, as well as biology, environmental studies, geology, and the professional science masters program.
The Marine Field Station is on an eight-acre waterfront site in the Jacques Cousteau National Estuarine Research Reserve and only 15 minutes from the Galloway campus and 30 minutes from the Atlantic City campus. The MFS makes available the facilities, research vessels, sampling equipment, and staff to provide Stockton students with hands-on learning experiences in a marine environment second to none. The Field Station is also home to the University’s Coastal Research Center, a grant and contract-funded research organization focusing on many of New Jersey’s coastal zone issues. Both the Marine Field Station and the Coastal Research Center provide research and work opportunities for students.
The location of the Field Station within the Mullica River-Great Bay estuary is central to its offerings; only 7 miles from the Atlantic Ocean and minutes from appropriate estuarine sites. The Field Station offers teaching and research laboratories, research vessels, marine sampling equipment, general-use laboratory equipment, and a fleet marine technology instrumentation including a remotely operated vehicle, side scan sonar, multibeam sonar, acoustic doppler current profilers, and a magnetometer.
