Stockton University is a public, primarily undergraduate institution of liberal arts, sciences and professional studies. The University has gained distinction through its achievements, recognized by the Carnegie Commission as a “highly selective” liberal arts University. Opened in 1971, the University is located 12 miles northwest of Atlantic City on a stunning 2000 acre campus in Galloway Township, NJ. Nestled in the Pinelands National Reserve, the University is just minutes west of Atlantic City and the Jersey Shore beaches while being an hour from Philadelphia and two hours from New York City. In addition to the Main Campus in Galloway, courses are offered online and in our educational centers located in Atlantic City, Hammonton, Manahawkin and Woodbine.
The University has 345 full time faculty members of whom 94% have terminal degrees. Just about 32% of these are minority and 55% are women. 93% of faculty are tenured or on tenure track. In all, Stockton University has approximately 1,186 full-time and 400 part-time employees.
Stockton University reported during Fall 2020 an enrollment of 9,573 FTE total graduate and undergraduate students (undergraduate – 8,839 FTE, graduate - 734 FTE). The combined headcount is 9,993 students (undergraduate headcount = 8,846 students, graduate headcount = 1047 students). The student body is 26% male and 74% Female with 27% being minority. 2,372 Degrees were awarded in 2019.
Student organizations boast more than 248 clubs and organizations, 37 sororities and fraternities, honor societies, academic societies, service clubs, and special interest groups. Athletics include six men's and 11 women's NCAA Division III varsity sports and 18 club and intramural sports.
Almost 2,077 students live on campus in apartment complexes and residence halls. 84% of students receive financial aid with an average financial aid package of $14,695. Total financial aid awarded was $104,146,758. Total scholarships were $11,431,025. Among undergraduates, 95% are matriculated. 98% of our students are New Jersey residents, predominantly from the southern NJ counties.
Stockton University offers undergraduate degrees in over 49 programs, various certificate and preparation programs, plus 18 graduate programs, including two doctoral programs. The University is organized around 8 school of faculties – School of Arts and Humanities, ARHU; School of Business, BUSN; School of Education, EDUC; William T. Daly School of General Studies, GENS; School of Graduate & Continuing Studies, GRAD STUD; School of Health Sciences, HLTH; School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, NAMS; and School of Social and Behavioral Sciences, SOBL.
