Daniel Favorito
B.S. Geology '14
My name is Daniel Favorito and I graduated from Stockton in May, 2014 with a B.S.
in Geology. I have been involved with four undergraduate research projects focusing
on topics such as petrology and structural geology working with Dr. Severs and Dr.
Hozik. I have also been a teaching assistant for several geology courses.
The geology program at Stockton has provided me with exceptional knowledge of the
subject, as well as practical, hands-on experience. All of the classes I’ve taken
have been both challenging and engaging. One of my favorite aspects of the program
are the field trips where students get direct, first-hand experience learning about
geologic processes. Through taking classes and working on various research projects,
I became very interested in ore deposits and structural geology, and decided to pursue
these interests in graduate school.
In May 2016, I graduated from the University of Arizona with an M.S. in Geosciences.
My master’s thesis focused on characterizing Laramide deformation and alteration in
the southern Tortilla Mountains of southeastern Arizona. Stockton’s geology program
not only gave me the background knowledge necessary for graduate school, it also provided
scientific writing and presentation skills that were vital to my success.
Currently, I am continuing my education at the University of Arizona by working towards
a Ph.D in geosciences. I can truthfully say that the geology program at Stockton has
fully prepared me for graduate school.
