WHAT WE’RE TALKING ABOUT

New cohort of Engelberg scholars at Atlantic City Campus.New Cohort of Engelberg Scholars Ready to Give Back to A.C.

Angelica Medrano applied for Stockton University’s Engelberg Leadership Scholarship Program because she wants to be a part of something bigger than herself.

“Atlantic City is a beautiful city, don’t get me wrong, but it does need a lot of improvement,” said the sophomore Health Science major. “It needs people to actively work and contribute toward making it better. I just want to give back to people. I want to be of use.”

That’s the core purpose of the leadership program, which was established in 2019 through a $1 million commitment to the Stockton University Foundation from Alfred Engelberg, a 1956 Atlantic City High School graduate who became a successful lawyer after receiving a generous scholarship from the Avoda organization.

Medrano is part of the seventh cohort of students selected for the 2025 program, which covers four Stockton students’ full tuition, room, board, fees, books and other expenses beginning their sophomore year.

Stockton and Brookdale Community College leadership during transfer pathway signing.Stockton, Brookdale CC Extend Transfer Pathway Agreement

Stockton and Brookdale Community College renewed a partnership that has helped students make a smooth transition from the two-year college to Stockton’s four-year bachelor’s degree program since 2018, during a signing ceremony Aug. 26.

The Transfer Pathways program continues the relationship between Stockton and Brookdale in Lincroft, Monmouth County, by offering multiple opportunities for students to seamlessly pursue associate and bachelor's degrees at the two institutions of higher education.

“Brookdale is proud to continue and expand our strong partnership with Stockton University," said

Brookdale President David Stout, who is a Stockton alumnus. "Together, we are opening doors for our students by creating seamless pathways that lower costs, shorten time to degree and provide unique hands-on learning experiences like Stockton’s Live-Work-Learn program. These opportunities not only help our students achieve their academic goals but also prepare them to thrive in New Jersey’s workforce and communities.”

New Tabletop Runner Design Offers Flexible Branding

University Relations and Marketing is introducing a new tabletop runner design with flexible branding options. Departments and schools can co-brand with either the Stockton wordmark and the Spirit S symbol, displayed by simply choosing which side faces forward. Available in blue or black, the runners are designed to overlay black stretch tablecloths, creating a consistent and professional look.

Orders should be placed through the Graphics Department to ensure production by Quality Concepts, our approved vendor, which we have tested for quality and color accuracy.

Those who do not order immediately may transition to the new runner designs as existing stock is replenished.

It’s Time to Confirm Your Ospreys!

Welcome back, faculty! As the fall semester is about to begin, it's almost time to Confirm your Ospreys!

Faculty are reminded to complete the Academic Engagement process by confirming student attendance/academic activity beginning after the add/drop period on Wednesday, Sept. 10. The Academic Engagement process is to be completed by Wednesday, Sept. 17. The Office of Financial Aid will use this information to make adjustments to student financial aid disbursements based upon each student's confirmed number of credits.

Each instructor will be responsible for confirming student attendance or participation in an academic activity. For online courses, faculty are reminded to include an assignment or discussion activity during the add/drop period so that the student's attendance can be confirmed.

The link to complete the Academic Engagement process can be found under the faculty tab within the goStockton portal.

For more information and a list of frequently asked questions, visit stockton.edu/academicengagement.

🎒 Fun Fact Friday:Did you know the tradition of the school mascot dates back to the 1800s? The first documented U.S. college mascot was Yale’s bulldog, “Handsome Dan,” in 1889. (Although Handsome Dan has nothing on Talon — “Soar Higher! Go Ospreys!” 🦅).

POLLING ALL OSPREYS
