University Weekend 2018
The Stockton community celebrated University Weekend held Oct. 4-Oct. 7. Signature
events included Stockton Myths & Legends, Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony,
Parent & Family Association Breakfast, Parade, Street Fair, Osprey Ball, and Fred Fest. New events included the Fall Slam: Live Pro Wrestling fundraiser, which benefits
Stockton’s veterans, A Night of Magic featuring Jason Michaels, Ospreys on Tap, Stockton
Broadway Arts Lab, Paint Night Fundraiser benefiting Free To Be. Stockton’s Got Talent,
which supports the Paul Lyons Memorial Lecture Series, on Oct. 7 featured the talents

Fannie Lou Hamer Human and Civil Rights Symposium
Women have been in the forefront of caring for communities all through time, New Jersey
Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver told participants at the 15th annual Fannie Lou Hamer Human and Civil Rights Symposium on Oct. 9. But today they are becoming more political, and being taken more seriously.
2nd District Congressional Debate
Stockton University hosted a debate between major-party candidates in New Jersey’s
2nd Congressional District on Oct. 10. Democrat Jeff Van Drew and Republican Seth
Grossman squared off on the stage of the Campus Center Theatre. The William J. Hughes
Center for Public Policy at Stockton University, The Press of Atlantic City and SNJ

Stockton Offers New Master of Arts in Counseling
Stockton University is now accepting applications for a new Master of Arts in Counseling program that will begin in September 2019.
Golf Classic Raises More than $58,000
More than 100 donors and nearly 200 registered golfers helped raise more than $58,000
at the Stockton University Golf Classic at Seaview Hotel & Golf Club on Sept. 27.

Take a Shuttle
Shuttle service is now offered seven days a week to and from Stockton University Atlantic City. Both
the Galloway campus and Stockton Atlantic City provide free transportation for faculty,
students and staff with their Stockton ID.

Tina Zappile Named to National Model United Nations Board
Associate Professor of Political Science Tina Zappile was recently selected as a new
board member for National Model United Nations (NMUN) for a two-year term, which began this month.
NMUN is the world’s largest intercollegiate Model UN conference. Stockton’s Model UN program attends NMUN conferences in the U.S. and abroad.
“I am honored to be selected for the board of NMUN. NMUN conferences connect students
around the world who are passionate about seeking innovative solutions to global challenges
through peaceful and diplomatic means,” Zappile said. “NMUN ensures an academically
rigorous experience with an emphasis on developing 21st century skills. I am thrilled
to represent Stockton in fulfilling that exciting mission.”

The Multicultural Month Brunch on Oct 2, brought students together to celebrate diversity in an inclusive America.

Stockton Inducts 2018 Hall of Fame Class
Stockton Athletics inducted its ninth Hall of Fame class at a dinner in the Campus Center Event Room on Oct. 5. The inductees were Chris
Crescenzi ’06 (baseball), Shelley Gibney ’11 (women's soccer & women's track & field),
Rory McPeek ’00 (men's lacrosse), Will Turner ’00 (men's basketball) and the 1995-96
Men’s Basketball Team.
Alumni Cane, Treadwell Playing Overseas
Two former Stockton basketball players are continuing their careers on the court by
playing overseas this fall. Armin Cane is playing for Hyvinkaan Ponteva in Finland.
Najha Treadwell is playing in England while pursuing her master's degree.

Financial Aid
Do you have students who are looking for financial aid assistance? The Office of Financial
Aid is hosting “FAFSA Fridays” every Friday starting October 12 from 10 a.m. to 2
p.m. in front of the E Wing library to assist students with the financial aid process.
