Malikah Stafford

Malikah Stafford reads her powerful poem, "On Your Knees," written for the Stockton University Theatre Club's cabaret.

I hope that my piece opens people’s eyes to the historical, continuous injustices committed against Black people which have left us imprisoned on our knees for centuries. I hope people will feel inspired to make meaningful, advocative change and feel the urgency to contribute to the fight against oppression.

This Voice was originally published in 2020. At the time of publication, Stafford was a Communication Studies major, Africana Studies minor and a member of the student organization Unified Black Students Society. She has since graduated and is currently working towards her master's degree in New York.
