Ms. Melanie Chin
Melanie Chin is a Student Senator under the Student Affairs committee and works closely with the Office of Residential Life. She is a Resident Assistant (RA) for First-year students. Aligned with her interest in medicine, Melanie is the Fundraising Chair for her pre-health co-ed fraternity, Delta Epsilon Mu, Incorporated.
Although not currently active in research, Melanie has been part of Rutgers University’s Waksman Student Scholar Program, where she completed a DNA sequence isolation and analysis project, published in the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
In addition to her leadership roles and work on campus, Melanie has a great interest in community service work. During her junior and senior high school years, she volunteered at Zarephath Health Clinic, helping provide adequate healthcare to the underserved under the shadow of Drs. Alita and John Eck. Additionally, she has volunteered at her local senior living center and for the Chinese Heritage School of New Jersey, her childhood Chinese language school. Melanie is also a regular attendee of Stockton’s days of service.
Melanie is currently sponsored by Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine for a Baccalaureate/D.O. Program in collaboration with Stockton University and is expected to matriculate to Rowan in 2026. She is working to earn her baccalaureate in Biology here at Stockton.
Melanie has an interest in geriatric medicine. She hopes to use her language skills and upbringing as a Chinese-American to work with aging Chinese populations in the US, calling back to her work to teach others Chinese culture as her high school’s Chinese Honor Society’s president and as a volunteer for her Chinese language school. Melanie hopes to not only stay in touch with her cultural upbringing, but also to uplift and help others through her knowledge of the Chinese language and culture.
As a Student Trustee, Melanie will serve on the Board of Trustees Advancement Committee and Student Success Committees.
