Standing Committees

Board of Trustees committee meetingThere are currently nine (9) standing committees utilized to support the efforts of the Board of Trustees in carrying on the business of the corporate body. Standing Committees report directly to the Board, and are chaired by a member of the Board as designated by the Chairperson. Appointments are for two-year terms; however, they may be subject to change.

Note: The President shall be a member Ex-Officio of every committee with the exception of the Audit Committee. The Chair of the Board of Trustees shall be an Ex-Officio member of every committee. Standing committees are listed as follows:

The Executive Committee acts on behalf of the body corporate between meetings of the Board of Trustees, subject to approval of its actions by the Board of Trustees at a subsequent meeting.  The committee reviews pertinent affairs falling under the direction of the Board, helping to support and strengthen the Board’s mission, performance and efficacy.

The Academic Affairs & Planning Committee ensures the consistency and alignment of Stockton’s academic program with the University’s mission and strategic planning. Overseeing the planning and activities of the academic program, the committee proposes to appropriately position the institution’s academic priorities with its academic mission.

The Advancement Committee supports the University’s fundraising, alumni engagement, public relations, and marketing efforts in order to ensure the well-being and sustainability of Stockton’s brand and reputation, philanthropic support, and efforts to sustain relationships with its graduates. Responsibilities include active engagement with fundraising and alumni relations plans, and offering feedback and counsel related to public outreach and communications.

The Audit Committee supports the Board of Trustees in performing its fiduciary duties. It primarily serves to ensure the integrity and accountability of the institution’s system of financial management, by overseeing the University’s financial practices, auditing process, and internal controls.

The Building and Grounds Committee serves as the stewards of the University’s physical resources.  The committee considers and provides direction on a broad spectrum of matters pertaining to campus facilities; capital assets and resource allocation; real estate; construction and renovations; campus improvements; and a host of other related items of facilities management and infrastructure.

The Finance and Professional Services Committee assists the Board in its duties to ensure the financial and economic soundness of the institution.  It serves as the “fiscal gatekeeper,” providing oversight and guidance of the University’s system of financial administration and business operations.

The Investment Committee helps the Board in its fiduciary duty to ensure the practice of sound and wise investment strategies of institutional funds.  The Committee ensures the proper implementation and execution of the University’s investment approach, and provides guidance and oversight to matters such as University investment policies, selecting asset classes, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.

The Student Success Committee ensures the University’s focus remains on its mission to provide an environment for excellence to students, and promote overall student success, growth, and development.  The Committee provides oversight and policy guidance to a variety of issues related to student success, such as representing the students’ interest in policy decisions, ensuring the allocation of financial resources to support the needs of students, and promoting diversity and inclusivity in student recruitment and retention.
