Summer Writing Club 2025

Do you really need to get down to brass tacks with that project you are working on?

Are you ready to end the summer with that project actually completed (or ½ way there or more)?

Are you ready to dedicate 10-20 hours per week to your research, writing. or creative project?
2-4 hours, 5 days─or your preference

If so, the 2025 fawn summer writing club is for you!

We will

  • Meet once per week from June 1 – July 31 (about 90 minutes)
  • Read others’ work for feedback (FAWN will train you to do this)
  • Make your plan for the summer
  • Help support you in time management
  • Help you structure your project
  • Host and attend Show up and Write sessions
  • Attend 2 bootcamp sessions (at least one in June, one in July; as many hours as you can)
  • Provide encouragement, structure, accountability, and company for your writing project
  • Have a little fun along the way.

FAQ:

Who is eligible?

Full-time and part-time faculty, NTTPs, adjuncts, emeritus professors, staff.

Is there a limit to the group members?

Nope. The more the merrier and the more club members there are, the more flexible show up and write sessions, bootcamps, and accountability/feedback meetings can be.

What kind of project can I work on?

Any academic/research/creative project that will build your CV. This includes: articles/essays, presentations, books/proposals, book reviews, research, data analysis, grants/sabbatical applications, peer-reviews, dissertations (and more!)

What if I don’t know what I’m working on yet?

That is OK. We will help you identify and build your project

When will we meet?

This depends on you. The registration link will ask about available times for show up and write as well as accountability/feedback meetings.

What if I’m going on vacation/attending a conference/planning a mental breakdown one of these weeks (or whatever)?

No need to worry.  Summer is a time to recuperate and you should do what you need to do to accomplish that. We ask that you commit to attending at least 6 of the 9 weeks.

Do I have to have a massive project to work on? Or can I just “catch up” with the other things I have to do?

You do not need a massive summer-long project.  We will accept you no matter what you need to accomplish.  But we do ask that you attend 6 out of the 9 weeks, to support your colleagues and help them revise their work.

What if finish before the 9 weeks are up?

WONDERFUL!  We ask that you still attend 6 of the 9 accountability/feedback meetings to provide feedback to your peers until the final week.

Will this be an actual club with pool, sauna/steam room, golf course, restaurant, and pickle-ball courts?

Alas, no.  But if you know someone who can make that happen, please reach out to them.

What if I have more questions or want to know more?

Please reach out to Aleksondra: aleksondra.hultquist@stockton.edu
