First Year Students

First Year Students

Once you have been accepted and paid your deposit, the Office of Admissions will invite you to an orientation. At your orientation you will choose classes with the aid of faculty and staff. A typical schedule for a freshman would be:

  1. A W1 (writing intensive) class.
  2. A first year seminar (part of your General Studies requirement)
  3. A Q1 class (quantitative reasoning/math) class
  4. A beginning class in your major, or another General Studies course.

An emphasis will be placed helping you understand Stockton's curriculum. If you would like to learn more about Stockton's curriculum, please check out our Curriculum pages.

The Center for Academic Advising welcomes questions from potential transfer students. You are welcome to call us at 609-652-4504 with your questions or schedule an appointment for a transcript evaluation. We ask that you bring transcripts with you to your appointment. Unofficial transcripts with grades will suffice.

If you are transferring from a community college in New Jersey, you may wish to consult www.njtransfer.org to see how your credits will be placed into Stockton's curriculum.

See descriptions of Stockton's degree programs.

Transfer students will be advised for fall or spring classes through an orientation program. You will be invited to attend an orientation through the Office of Admissions. Faculty and staff in each major will help you select appropriate classes based on the types of courses that you transferred.
