Dance at Stockton - Audition Information
Dance Audition for Prospective Students
March 1, 2025
Students applying to Stockton University who are interested in pursuing a dance major
or minor must audition. Acceptance is contingent upon acceptance by the University.
Audition Information:
Auditions for Dance are for incoming first-year and transfer students. The audition
consists of a ballet barre, a modern center, and a guided improvisational section,
as well as a conversation with faculty and current students about the program. Participants
are invited to attend the performance of the Spring Dance Concert by Stockton Dance
Company.
Audition Day Schedule:
2:00pm | Registration
2:30-4:00 | Class (ballet barre, modern center, and guided improvisation)
4:00-4:30 | Q&A with faculty and students
4:30-7:30 | Break
7:30-9:00 | Spring Dance Concert
Dance Video Audition:
If you missed our in-person Dance Audition Day in March, you can still apply to the Dance Program with a video audition.
Video Audition Guidelines:
Please look directly at the camera and state your full name at the beginning of the recording. Wear form fitting clothing and make sure your hair is pulled back.
The filming does not need to take place in a dance studio, just as long as we can see your full body in the frame.
Please learn and film yourself performing the audition material from the Stockton Dance YouTube video. Use music that supports the phrases provided.
Once that is complete, upload your video to a site like Vimeo, YouTube, or Google Drive and make sure it is viewable by all who have the link. In your email indicate if you are auditioning as a dance major or minor. Do not send the data file of the video.
Please email your Video Audition link ASAP to dance@stockton.edu.
After you send the video, you will receive a response email within 1-2 weeks. Good luck and we look forward to seeing your video submission. If you have questions, please let us know.
