Compliance
The Office of the General Counsel is responsible for oversight of the University’s compliance function to ensure the University meets its obligations under all applicable federal and state laws and regulations, accreditation standards, contractual obligations, and University policies and procedures. The Office of General Counsel provides centralized and coordinated oversight of compliance through monitoring, communication, and risk assessment.
To identify the University’s compliance obligations, a matrix will be maintained and updated regularly. The matrix provides a list of functional areas of compliance and the assignment of responsibility of such areas to the appropriate division or department within the University. Senior leadership is responsible for managing compliance duties within functional areas and reporting issues to the Office of General Counsel.
Compliance Matrix
The Higher Education Compliance Alliance (HECA) Compliance Matrix lists key federal laws and regulations governing colleges and universities. Using the HECA Compliance Matrix as a guide, the University Compliance Matrix : identifies the federal and State laws and regulations, accreditation standards, and University policies and procedures and departments or divisions and positions with responsibility for managing the compliance areas. The University Compliance Matrix is an active resource that will be updated on an ongoing basis.
