Comfort for Caregivers: Grief Workshop
Friday, December 6, 2024 from noon – 2:00 p.m.
Join us for a workshop and support session for anyone grieving the death of a loved one with dementia.
This workshop is for anyone who is grieving the death of a loved one with any type of dementia or neurocognitive disorder. The two-hour session will describe how losing someone with dementia can be different from other losses. Coping strategies will be highlighted and all group members will have the opportunity to share their experiences with one another. All are welcome to attend. The workshop will be led by Dr. Christine Gayda, Associate Professor of Psychology at Stockton University. She is a group facilitator for SCOSA’s weekly Alzheimer’s Caregiver Support Group on the Galloway campus. Dr. Gayda recently published Neurological Disorders: Cases from a Biopsychosocial Perspective with her colleague Dr. Rebecca Mannel, Assistant Professor of Occupational Therapy.

Financial Support for SCOSA
Help us grow our programs and keep most of them free-of-charge to participants by
making a tax-deductible contribution to SCOSA. Choose between the Teski-Burdick Gerontology Fund (a non-endowed fund honoring the late Professor Marea Teski, visionary founder of
Stockton’s gerontology program, and Professor Dave Burdick, who was SCOSA's founding
director), or the Southern NJ Council on Issues of Aging Endowed Fund (established with a generous gift from SNJCIA in 2013). Click Here to give online. Type "GERO" in Designation/Keyword box, and select "Teski-Burdick
Gerontology Fund" or type "SCOSA" and select SCOSA - Southern New Jersey Council ...
Endowed Fund." If you'd prefer to write a check, make checks to the Stockton University
Foundation and note “Teski-Burdick Gerontology Fund” or "Southern NJ Council on Issues
of Aging Fund" in the memo line, and mail to Stockton University Foundation, 101 Vera
King Farris Drive, Galloway, NJ 08205-9441.

SCOSA's Older Adult Programs are funded, in part, under Title III of the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, through grants from Atlantic County and Cape May County Area Agencies on Aging. Federal regulations require us to inform participants that voluntary donations to SCOSA are welcome. Such donations are not a fee and are not required. Any donations received will be used to develop and operate our programs. Thank you for your support!
SCOSA encourages fragrance-free environments in all of our programming.
Chemical fragrances in many personal care, household and institutional cleaning products
cause severe reactions for some individuals and can be harmful to everyone in less
apparent ways.
