New Hire To-Do List
Since it is summer, you do not need to register your vehicle at this time. An email
will go out to all faculty and staff in mid-August asking them to register their vehicle/s
by going toVirtual parking permit registration. You can skip this item on the to-do list until the email goes out in August.
The New Jersey State Code of Ethics requires all new employees to complete the Ethics Training within 30 days of employment. Once completed, forward ethics training completion certificate
to valerie.hayes@stockton.edu.

Faculty and Staff are urged to "Opt in" to the Emergency Text-Messaging system. Log into the goStockton Portal, click the Employee tab and click on Update Emergency Text Message Contacts to add

Complete DUO enrollment as soon as possible. Your account has been created by our information security team and is ready for your set-up.

New Hire Orientation
New Faculty Orientation
New Faculty Orientation is a one-day program scheduled in late August hosted by Academic Affairs. This program is designed to welcome and prepare new faculty for teaching at Stockton.
New faculty will be sent invites to this late summer program.
This Employee Guide contains only general guidelines and information. It is an electronic guide replacing the printed version of the employee handbook. It is not intended to be comprehensive or to address all possible applications of, or exceptions to, the general policies and procedures described. For that reason, if you have any questions concerning eligibility for a particular benefit, or the applicability of a policy or practice to you, you should address your specific questions to the Office of Human Resources. Neither this guide nor any other University document confers any right, either expressed or implied, to remain in the University's employ. Nor does it guarantee any fixed terms or conditions of employment. Your employment may be terminated pursuant to applicable University policies and procedures or Union contract. If you are an employee on contract, the University may elect not to renew your contract, with or without cause, upon expiration of the contract. No supervisor or other representative of Stockton University (except the President) has the authority to enter into any agreement for employment for any specified period of time, or to make any agreement contrary to the above.
Some of the subjects described in this guide are covered in detail in official policy and procedure documents. You should refer to these documents for specific information, since this guide only briefly summarizes those benefits. Please note that the terms of the State Health Benefits/Retirement Plans and their written insurance policies are controlling.
The procedures, practices, policies, and benefits described here may be modified or discontinued from time to time. Every attempt will be made to inform you of any changes as they occur. However, it is your responsibility to keep current of all University policies and procedures. It is your responsibility to review University policies and procedures in detail and to request any clarification needed from your supervisor or the Office of Human Resources. Violation of University policies or procedures may result in disciplinary action, including termination of employment.

*Vacation, Sick, and Personal (Civil Service Employees only) leave balances are credited in advance, at the beginning of the calendar year (fiscal year for Managers), in anticipation of continued employment for the full year. Information on how to report or file a complaint of sex discrimination or sexual harassment and all grievance procedures is available on the Title IX website.
Stockton University is committed to providing every University employee and prospective University employee with a work environment free from prohibited discrimination or harassment. The Policy Prohibiting Discrimination in the Workplace lays out exactly what behaviors and actions are prohibited, what the procedures are for filing a complaint, and all details related to the policy.
The Title IX of the Education amendments of 1972 protects people from sex discrimination in educational programs and activities at institutions that receive federal financial assistance.
The University is committed to providing an environment free from discrimination on the basis of sex. Stockton provides many resources to students, faculty, and staff to address concerns relating to discrimination on the basis of sex, which includes sexual misconduct.
The Clery Act requires institutions to report crimes that happen on, near, and immediately adjacent to campus. Every year the Stockton Police Department publishes an annual security report that includes three previous years of crime statistics. Under the Clery Act some employees are designated Campus Security Authorities (CSA) and will receive annual additional training on when and how to report all crimes reported to them.

Stockton uses Vector Solutions, an online training platform, for all employee compliance training. All new employees will be assigned 6-7 courses through Vector Solutions that must be completed within your first six weeks of employment. You will receive an email notification once these courses are assigned and ready for you to take. Details and information on these requirements was reviewed during New Hire Orientation.
Authorized use of and access to the University's computing and communication facilities is intended and permitted solely to support the legitimate educational, administrative and mission‐centered programs of the institution.

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974 (the Buckley Amendment) insures students of the right to privacy in their educational records and establishes the right of students to inspect and review their records and to initiate grievance proceedings to correct inaccuracies. Students are also assured of the right to file complaints with the FERPA Office of the United States Department of Education concerning alleged failures by Stockton to comply with the Act. As an employee of Stockton, it is your responsibility to protect the confidentiality of our students' educational records and upholding their right to privacy.

All vehicles parked in Stockton parking lots must have a virtual parking permit. Permits are free of charge. Once you have a Z number (employee ID#) go to the Parking & Transportation home page for full details on parking regulations and to register your vehicle/s.
In the event of a reported emergency closing of the University, all essential employees are to report to work as scheduled. Employees
have been notified of their status in accordance with union contracts or by their
supervisor based on institutional priority.
The fastest and easiest way to receive notification of any closings or delays is to opt-in to the Stockton University Emergency Text Messaging system which select campus administrators use to send urgent text messages to subscribers' cell phones in the event of an emergency. To subscribe to this service login to goStockton portal, click on the Employee tab and under the Personal Information box you will see a link that says Update Emergency Text Message Contacts. Click on that link to subscribe up to three cell phone numbers to the system.
The Office of Information Technology Services(ITS) provides services in the following major functional areas: Academic Computing, Administrative Computing, End-User Training and Support, Communications and Networking, and Systems Administration and Operation. The ombuds officer role is a safe, neutral, confidential, and informal resource available to all members of the Stockton community. An ombuds officer is a highly trained, third party selected by an institution, such as a university, to resolve employee complaints/disputes within the institution’s community in an informal manner that is consistent with alternative dispute resolution best practices. The ombuds officer listens to your concerns, clarifies procedures, discusses options, and, when requested, may act as an intermediary.

The Deer Oaks Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a free service provided for full-time employees and all members of their household by Stockton University.
